For Fort Lauderdale Residents - Holiday tree recycling made easy with new curbside collection

New this year, Fort Lauderdale residents may place holiday trees curbside for pickup on scheduled yard waste collection days. The free service begins the week of December 29th and concludes on January 10th.
This convenient new service provides an eco-friendly and convenient method for holiday tree disposal. Trees that are placed curbside will be specially collected by Republic Services and transported to a yard waste processor where they will be chipped and used to make landscaping products, such as mulch.
Removal of tree stands, tinsel, lights and ornaments from trees is required. Tree bags must also be removed. Artificial trees should be disposed of as trash or bulk waste and are not included in this special collection.
Other traditional options for tree disposal are still available, including cutting trees and placing in green yard waste carts, placement in bulk pickup piles or transporting trees to a Broward County designated Chip-A-Tree site.  Please do not disposal of your tree in CITY parks!
Neighbors are encouraged to take advantage of this more eco-friendly curbside collection. Recycling holiday trees reduces garbage disposal costs and improves waste diversion from landfills and incinerators.
